I always say that language is dynamic and how its used now will become 'correct' usage tomorrow. I also say we should learn to live with it, BUT I dread the approaching decades when 'like' will become adjective, adverb, preposition et al and 'awesomeness' will happen on an awfully regular basis.Maundering muttererhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10007758736758966777noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8443682789346019108.post-82219180519749971452010-05-11T01:05:01.863-07:002010-05-11T01:05:01.863-07:00I quite agree - as long as meanings aren't cha...I quite agree - as long as meanings aren't changed. Without it, writing (And reading) would be a great deal less exciting. Admittedly, certain clichees are overworked: 'treacherous waters' being a case in point, but even these make language a touch more expressive. I mean, if I was talk of 'being bathed in golden sunshine', the literal interpretation doesn't bear thinking of, does it?Maundering muttererhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10007758736758966777noreply@blogger.com
